The newly-formed Chamber of Digital Commerce, established in mid-July by Perianne Boring, has submitted comments to the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) relating to recently-released BitLicense regulations.
The ten-page comments from Ms. Boring state the following:
- The proposed regulations shouldn’t apply to business that only store or transmit digital currency;
- Businesses in the digital currency realm should have the freedom to make investments;
- Businesses in the digital currency realm should have the freedom to innovate;
- The proposal’s “Existing Exchange Services” exemption is discriminatory to non-New Yorkers
“We have been very vocal in encouraging the industry to submit comments to the NYDFS. The Digital Chamber’s comments are posted on our website and the industry is welcome to use them as a resource,” said Ms. Boring in a Tuesday press statement.
Chamber of Digital Commerce Comments NYDFS
The Chamber of Digital Commerce joins a number of other entities in the crypto-sphere in the desire to extend the 45-day commenting period on the proposal.
Previously, Boring commented that the 45-day period allotted for citizens and business to make comments was “severely inadequate,” calling the short time frame “egregious”.
