It wasn’t terribly long ago that Bitcoin information and wallet provider Blockchain.info announced they had surpassed the 1.5 million in terms of MyWallet users, and a quick peak of the charts available on the service’s website today reveals that number is significantly higher.
A total of about 1.9 million users are utilizing the service (and they’ll quickly be closing in on a whopping 2 million users), on average carrying out between 20,000-30,000 transactions on a daily basis.
Transaction volume on the MyWallet service fluctuates on a daily basis, averaging in the 80,000-100,000 BTC range.
And if you’re curious as to how much has been transacted on the service to date, you might be shocked to learn that it’s not in the millions. Rather, billions.
Specifically, $21.5 billion United States dollars.
By comparison, wallet competitor Coinbase hosts 1.5 million consumer wallets, with a rate of growth less than that seen by Blockchain.info.
Coinbase does not release specifics in terms of transaction volume, etcetera.
New iOS Wallet App Coming Soon
While we’re on the topic of Blockchain.info, the service is soon planning to re-release their application to the iOS App Store following an abrupt removal last year by Apple.
The application — which is redesigned — was inadvertently published on the App Store this weekend.
Upon downloading the application, only the older version of the app displayed, but the screenshot above provides a good indication as to what the redesigned interface will look like.
As of this time, we do not see the app listed on the App Store anymore. A company employee took to Twitter to note that “is [was] a pre-release copy that was inadvertently made temporarily available,” adding that a “full release will be [available] in near future”.
Overall, some exciting things happening at Blockchain.info. We can’t wait to see what they do next.
