11 Percent of Finns Surveyed Express Interest in Investing in Bitcoin

The United States and Canada aren’t the online places where the use and interest in bitcoin is booming. Finland, too, has a good number of citizens who find the digital currency appealing.

Finnish news website YLE reports that it is estimated that approximately 20,000 Finnish people are somehow or another already tinkering with bitcoin, according to Henry Brade, a self-described bitcoin entrepreneur. And a survey conducted by Nordnet, a Nordic stock broker, found 11 percent of the population is interested in investing in bitcoin.

With a population of about 5.4 million, that is nearly 600,000 individuals. And it’s no surprise, either. Will increasing news coverage and the spotlight on bitcoin, it’s rather difficult to not know what it is, or at least have some idea.

Brade estimates that by the end of 2014, up to 50,000 individuals could be somehow involved with bitcoin. But like most things in the bitcoin world, time will tell. (via YLE)
