It became particularly popular because it used to be relatively easy to raise a substantial amount of money in a fairly short amount of time. An ICO cryptocurrency is one launched as means of raising funds. Usually, the project will create its own cryptocurrency for the sake of selling it to investors. Based on the project’s progress, the cryptocurrency is supposed to grow in value, hence making a nice return for the investors. That’s rarely the case.
