DeFi Development Corp has pushed its Solana treasury above 2.5 million SOL and SOL equivalents after another week of accumulation.
The Nasdaq-listed company said on September 28 that it added approximately 47,706 SOL to its treasury since September 21.
That takes the total to around 2,538,010 SOL and SOL equivalents.
The Treasury Grew About 2% In One Week
DeFi Development Corp valued the position at approximately $309 million at the time of the announcement.
The latest addition represents roughly 2% week-over-week growth.
Since the company’s August 12 earnings update, its SOL and SOL-equivalent holdings have increased by more than 226,000 tokens, or around 10%.
That makes the latest disclosure part of an ongoing treasury strategy rather than a one-off crypto purchase.
The company has described its approach as accumulating and compounding Solana rather than simply holding it idle.
That can include staking and other strategies intended to generate additional SOL-denominated returns from the underlying treasury.
Solana Treasury Companies Are Becoming Their Own Category
Bitcoin treasury companies established the basic model: raise capital, buy a digital asset and give public-market investors exposure through the company’s shares.
Solana-focused companies are trying to add another layer.
SOL is a proof-of-stake asset, which means a corporate holder can potentially earn staking rewards while maintaining its treasury position.
That creates a different economics from holding Bitcoin.
It also introduces additional risks.
Staking infrastructure, validator performance, token price volatility and corporate financing all influence shareholder outcomes.
DeFi Development Corp has also built preferred-stock products around the strategy, including its CHAD security carrying a 13% annual dividend rate.
The combination is becoming increasingly similar to the capital structures built around large Bitcoin treasuries, but with a yield-bearing asset underneath.
The company says it intends to keep accumulating.
Whether that creates value ultimately depends on more than the number of SOL on the balance sheet.
Investors also have to consider how the purchases are financed, what the company earns on the assets and how its securities trade relative to the value of the underlying treasury.
For now, the accumulation itself remains clear.
DeFi Development Corp has crossed 2.5 million SOL equivalents and is still adding to the position.
