Cellular Provider Mobile Vikings Receives Nearly 100 Bitcoin Payments

Bitcoin-Viking-image-155x300On December 19th, 2013, it was reported that European cellular carrier Mobile Vikings would begin accepting bitcoin payments. The carrier serves The Netherlands, Belgium, and Poland, and has preliminary statistics on just how bitcoin is doing with their service.

“We have reached almost 100 payments via Bitcoin the past days,” said Dorien Aerts, Chief Marketing Officer at the company in a statement to newsBTC.

Despite that relatively small number, Mobile Vikings is pleased with the amount of transactions they’ve received in the digital currency. Aerts told me that it’s “more than expected at any case.”

Mobile Vikings serves over 100,000 customers in the three countries it operates in, so it will be interesting to see how many more customers will start using bitcoin to top-up their plans in the coming months.
